Characteristics:Kalahari's most prominent annual grass, up to 1 m tall, produces an acidic secretion with strong smell, hardy grass with the tendency to become almost biennal in years of good rainfall, culms grow erect from a bent base, culms, dull striped sheaths and leaf blades densely haired, glands at the tips of the hairs that secrete a sticky organic acid (in maturity) that has devastating effects on humans and animals
